Ravi Rajcoomar is a contemporary Suriname artist who live and work in Suriname.
The waving water of the Suriname River can be clearly seen in the backyard of the Nola Hatterman Art Academy, a national art school where many of todays successful artists have been trained, which has also been the base of learning to upcoming artist Ravi Rajcoomar. Born on November 22nd under the star sign of Scorpio in Georgetown Guyana. His parents and the rest of his family moved to Suriname (his new home land) when Ravi was only a toddler. Ravi attended a technical junior high school where he learned all about car engineering. Meanwhile the zest for drawing and painting was growing steadily. Many of his schoolteachers saw the talent and urged him to develop his drawing skills. In his last year of auto engineering education he decided to make a big step, a complete swing and focused completely on making a career as an artist. Ravi Rajcoomar started his education at the Nola Hatterman Art Academy in 1993 and graduated in 1998. Ravi kept educating him self in different styles and techniques of art, had a wide variety of exhibitions either solo or in groups, in and outside of Suriname. He also worked together in different art projects that focuses on youngsters that let them learn about various social aspects of life and in an artistic way give expression of what they have learned. Since 1998 is Ravi connected as an art teacher at the Nola Hatterman Art Academy.
